A Word From the Author

I'm thinking about doing a sequel to my historical novel 'The Girl from the Kip,' but only thinking about it.

Girl From The Kip

As for my novel, 'Tethered Love' (set during the Viking raids) it's not going well. It should have been published way before Christmas, but sadly, I realised, the second half wasn't as good as I thought it was. That's after thinking the novel was complete.

I'm going to leave it for a while, a year or so maybe. lol

A Word From the Author

I went back to work today, so feeling a little shattered, even though I am only part time.

It went okay; like it normally does. I like my job, so there is no issue there.

I'm trying to eat better at the moment and not eating is making me moody, so staying away from writing today, because it may influence the way my characters interact.

Came up with another story today, had to write it down for future reference. It's amazing how you see something, touch something or smell something, and it gives you an idea for Story.

An Example of my eBook, 'A Different kind of Love by Susan Williams Only £2.50

A Different Kind of Love

Sorry it's only a small extract, but obviously, I don't want to give too much away.

Sadly, in the morning, he’d gone, and Jade cried. She’d never opened herself up that much sexually to anyone, and his absence hurt her physically. She’d never been so fulfilled, and she wanted more. Although he’d been rough at times, she’d felt safe in his arms and she wanted more of the same.

A Word From the Author

It's Sunday and I'm chilling out, watching a bit of telly and thinking... why  aren't I doing any writing.

Answer:   Having a lazy day before I go back to
                work tomorrow.

A WordFrom the Author

Back to work on Monday, which is ok, but it means I'll have less time to write, which isn't cool. Especially when you have so many ideas in your head.

Still, only six weeks before Easter half term, then I can write as much as I like.

Nothing like wishing your life away...

A Word From the Author

Yes, I'm writing in red, so you know this entry will not be great.

Thinking that one of my novels was finished, I proofread it to the end, then realised, that the end was abrupt and pants. So now, I'm going to have to find another ending.

It could be worse I suppose. I may have had to rewrite the whole thing.

I think I'll leave that novel for a while and get back to another one, that I hope is finished.

A Whole week off
( a word from the Author)

It's  half term and I have a whole week off. I can wake up whenever I want and I can write whenever I feel like it.

Which is why I'm writing in Perfecting Pink. Off to do some proofreading, lucky, lucky me. lol

Oh well! It's got to be done.

A Callous Land: Cover image designed by Dorset artist, Stephen Williams by [Williams, Susan]

A Short Extract from this Novel

Isabella placed the mirror face down on the bed and walked over to the dressing table and poured herself a glass of sherry which she downed in one, and then another and then another, until, she felt numb enough to face what was to come. She pulled her long brown hair up off her face and fastened it with a clip that she had found on the dressing table. Then she sat on the bed and picked the mirror up.

First, she looked at her forehead, there were a few small scars but nothing serious and they didn’t distract from her beauty. Then she looked at her eyes and nose. Her face didn’t look as good as she’d hoped it would. One of her eyes had a huge scar that went diagonally across her face and on the other eye, a huge fragment by the side of her eye had been gouged out. Then she looked down at her lips, fortunately, if you could call it that, there were just a few scars over the top of them. Then she looked down at her neck. She had a large red scar around it.

There were no words that could describe how she felt and as she put the mirror down on the bed, a stream of tears escaped from her eyes. Silent, knowing tears that she had no control over. But she felt no more pain than she already did. The black void within her just filled up with more excruciating hollowness.

She’d endured everything that was humanly possible and survived, and for that she knew she should be grateful, but she wasn’t. She had no life and nothing to look forward to and now she understood why Tyak, the first man she had ever loved, had been repulsed by her and in that moment, she was no longer afraid, because death would be a welcome release for her.

The Perfect Gift by [Williams, Susan]

Saturday 8 February 2020

My family have gone out for a few hours; it's the perfect time to do some proofreading.

SO WHY AM I DOING THIS?

Sunday 2 February 2020

A Word From the Author

I didn't find the end chapter of my latest historical novel, which was careless of me.
However, I did manage to rewrite it and I was pleased with it. It was slightly different, but I actually think I improved it.

I saved it numerous times to make sure it did not escape from my computer.

Now, I am leaving that for a short time to proof read my contemporary novel. Hopefully, it will be out by February 14th ( Hope is a wonderful thing.) In reality, I will probably miss that deadline or any other deadline for that matter. ( but as they are my deadlines, I can adapt them as I wish. At least I've got control over that.

But onward and upward, I have to go to work tomorrow so not sure when I will have the time to do anything. It must be wonderful to be able to sit down and write when you get the urge. My urges have to coincide with my work diary. Still, I still love writing when I can. Roll on half term.

A Word From the Author

I finished  my latest historical novel and have been proofreading it on and off for the last few weeks, and yesterday, opened it, to find that half of the last chapter has disappeared.

I'm not sure where it's gone, whether I deleted it, because I wasn't happy with it on that particular day, or it deleted itself in frustration, or got lost in my computer.

I suppose I could have been tired and not saved it, but as I have a thing about continually saving my work, I don't think so.

Perhaps I should write a short story about the missing chapter. I could call it, ' The Lost Chapter' or ' The Case of the Lost Chapter' or even, 'A Chapter too Far'

And talking about far, that's enough for today. lol
