A Word from the Author

Half term, so spending time on my Christmas Stories. It's so nice to be able to write whenever I feel like it.  It should be out at the end of November, or before, if I'm filled with the Christmas spirit, and I don't mean the drinking kind either. lol

My hubby is also busy painting my Christmas cover.

The Perfect Gift by [Williams, Susan]

A Word from the Author

I have anxiety issues. There, I've said it. However, I feel as if I'm coming through the other side now.

Anxiety is a strange thing. I have everything I want, but I still get anxious. Thankfully, it's not depression this time. The doctors' say that I have a chemical imbalance in the brain. So, I am going to own it. It's not like I have any control over it.

I was worrying about the smallest things which didn't make any sense, and I was starting to cry at stupid things; and having had them before, I am now on tablets, which in my case have helped immensely.

I'm not advocating that you should go down this route, because there are natural methods you can use to restore your well being.

At least they are helping me get through this period in my life and thankfully, a little of my passion has returned, and sorry folks, I've started writing again. I forgot how good it makes me feel. Maybe, because I can immerse myself in my characters and forget about myself - I don't know.

Anyway, I'm now old enough and ugly enough to embrace the fact, that yes, I have had mental health problems in my life, and may have some in the future, but that doesn't mean to say I'm not a strong person. And just in case there is anyone out there who can empathise with this. I'd like to say, own up to it and ignore those people who say it's in your head.

Unless they've walked a day in your shoes, they'll never understand how you feel. It's not as if I wake up in the morning and think, ' I'd like to be miserable and worry myself silly today.'

As Glory Gaynor would say, ' I am, what I am.'
I'm proud to be Mrs Susan Ann Williams, no matter what those misguided trolls may think.

I have mental health issues yes, but I'm proud of who I am.

Oh dear! once again, I digress. Now, this being my writing blog, sorry guys, I need to promote my new books. lol.

As promised, an extract from my new novel.

‘I need help Tyak.’ she found herself saying as she undid the papoose and lay her baby on the blanket.
‘Help?’
I am not used to this way of life and I miss us Tyak.’
‘You chose this way of life Isabella; you are part of the village now and you will do as the other women do.’
‘Do the others go without sex as I do. I think not. Why won’t you touch me Tyak?’
‘You talk in riddles Isabella; you are a mother now and you will act like one.’
‘You haven’t answered my question; why don’t you make love to me. Do you no longer love me?’
‘Do you regret having our son Isabella?’ he said angrily.

‘God no, he’s my life. But he’s not all my life. I need you Tyak, can you not see that. My life is hard and when you make love to me, my life is better for it.’
‘We are not as demonstrative as your kind. When we join, we join so that our seed will go on. The day is long and hard, and you should be grateful I make no demands on you.’
‘Grateful,’ she sneered, as she held back the tears.
‘You will sleep now.’ Tyak said, and Isabella knew him well enough to know that at least on his part, the conversation was over.

That night, for the first time in ages she cried herself to sleep. Tyak would never understand her need for him and suddenly, she felt as if things were slipping away from her. What hurt her more than anything was the fact that once, he couldn’t get enough of her.

‘Damn!’ Isabella cried out as she dropped the kindling on the floor. One of the braves picked it up for her and she gave him a grateful smile. She had taken a liking to Bear, because unlike the others, he wasn’t afraid to air his feelings. Probably because his mother had been white.
‘Shall I take the wood into your tepee?’
‘No Bear, but thank you, you are very kind.’
‘Bear, why are you not with the hunting party?’ Tyak said angrily, as he strode up to them.
‘I am going Tyak, I was just helping Isabella.’
‘Isabella has no need of your help, go.’
Bear gave him an angry look but didn’t say anything and Tyak grabbed hold of her arm and dragged her into the tepee.

‘You will not talk or even look at the other braves Isabella.’
Isabella looked at him harshly and said, ‘I will talk to whomever I please. If you are not interested in me, then I will find somebody who is and move into their tepee. That’s your way isn’t it.’

As promised, an extract from my Victorian story, 'Maggie'

Maggie

Later that night, sitting alone in the dark, Maggie thought about Tom. She liked his brashness and his confidence, but she’d decided that although she was working class, he was too common even for her. Plus, he had the gift of the gab and he’d probably had thousands of women, and she didn’t want to be a notch on his bed post.

A Word From the Author, Susan Williams

Having had a bout of anxiety recently and losing some of my mojo, I am pleased to announce, that a little of my passion for writing has returned. Yay!

So, what am I working on?

My historical Western and Viking full length stories are on hold now until after Christmas. I'm better, but lack the stamina needed to complete one of these novels and proofread the other.

However, My short story 'Maggie,' based in Victorian England will be available within the next two weeks, or earlier.

As it is approaching Christmas I am working on a selection of short stories for Christmas, which is going well. Hopefully, if I keep on feeling inspired, it will be out at the beginning of December.

I also have another Christmas short story on the go, so hopefully, health permitting, that one will be available in December too.

It's so good to be able to write again, albeit slowly.
